- byrneseyeview 17y agoPeople refer to Facebook as an "operating system": http://www.redherring.com/Home/23046 http://www.redherring.com/Home/23046 or http://www.google.com/search?q=facebook+operating+system http://www.google.com/search?q=facebook+operating+system
- pyre 17y agoThat's mostly because its founder originally did so. I highly doubt that you'll find someone referring to Facebook as an operating system prior to that.

- teej 17y agoMaybe my experience has been skewed, but every person I know that has referred to an entity as a web operating system has been full of shit.
- tlrobinson 17y agoIndeed. The average person's idea of an "operating system" is what they see on the screen and interact with. It's more of a portal. Whereas us computer sciency people know that's only the icing on the cake of an "operating system".
- gcheong 17y agoI could see how he could come up with that if he was thinking about it as a system that provides services for a band's operations.
