This sounds fantastic; I'm so glad to see it. I'm curious what areas of research will be chosen, and how. I wonder if there is any room for a voting style 'the community would like to see resources put behind this idea' decision making process. (On the other hand, its not the community's money, so do what you will :)). I'm guessing all of this will be in the Bay Area? It'd be great if there was a way for regular folks to help out with this. It seems to be something genuinely intended to help people and I'd love to contribute in some way.
