Actual software engineering probably shouldn't be considered the same category as the methodology cults and poor management. I actually read books like Mythical Man Month, Refactoring, etc... and it's helped me to write better software. Theory and practice are very different though.
- kragen 11y agoI agree that both of those books are very valuable, and the second one even qualifies as actual engineering, in software.
