FlashAir: Memory Card with Wireless LAN
- bootload 11y agoMemory gets cheaper and cheaper but this Toshiba SDHC caught my eye because it has in-built wifi and AUD twenty dollar price-point for 16Gb... with some interesting options (iOS, Android, Web, Arduino) to hack. Version 3 is class 10 & has a Lua interpreter. Allows you to do things like talk to web services using RaspberryPi & (python) [0] more: tutorials ~ https://flashair-developers.com/en/documents/tutorials/ https://flashair-developers.com/en/documents/tutorials/ book ~ https://flashair-developers.com/en/documents/books/ https://flashair-developers.com/en/documents/books/ and https://flashair-developers.com/files/books/FlashAir_Doujinshi_en_web_150811A.PDF https://flashair-developers.com/files/books/FlashAir_Doujins... - michaelmior 11y agoSome devices require you to physically connect them in order to access the data. An SD card with WiFi allows you to easily access the data while the card is still in the device.
- apostrophedave 11y agoa few years ago i was looking for something like this for my car stereo. instead of having to take the sd card out of the car and change the music every few days i could just use something like this to sync across new music. dunno if it works like that though. there are cards called Eye-fi that have done wireless for a few years now but they only sync across photos from a dslr/camera to your computer or mobile phone
- bootload 11y ago"What is the point?" Good question. I look at it this way, low cost & programmable. It's not open but for the cost and utility this outweighs doubt. I also look at small hardware, stuff that's cheap and hackable. So for the price of a card + usb power source you could have a portable web server. Think about that.
- dingaling 11y agoTranscend also offer WLANSD cards which with a simple set of commands over their telnet port can run an FTP server.
- schappim 11y agoI would have thought that Eye-fi [1] had a patent on this! [1] http://eyefi.com http://eyefi.com
- realinside 11y agoAre there any (cheap) devices like this that allow for custom firmware/binaries and BTLE?
- solnyshok 11y ago2 years ago there was a buzz about hackable wifi sdcards. google "transcend wifi sd hack". e.g. this http://dmitry.gr/index.php?r=05.Projects&proj=15.%20Transcend%20WiFiSD http://dmitry.gr/index.php?r=05.Projects&proj=15.%20Transcen...
