China has made a huge about-face in the last 2 years on energy. Their policy is currently to invest heavily in green energy for domestic use, and to become the global green energy technology leader. I think they will be successful - advances in energy tech take superpower-level resources, but they also tend to sustain those superpowers for a long time. China will build their dominance on 'clean' energy. No doubt about it.
