One solution that I've adopted: never use Finder.
- filsmick 11y agoWhat do you use instead? You navigate exclusively from your terminal?
- spython 11y agoI've used Forklift for years, very stable: http://www.binarynights.com/forklift/ http://www.binarynights.com/forklift/
- FireBeyond 11y agoCocoa tech Path Finder for me.
- arm 11y agoI second the Path Finder recommendation: http://www.cocoatech.com/pathfinder/ http://www.cocoatech.com/pathfinder/
- atrilumen 11y agoFor source code repos, yeah. Otherwise, add .DS_Store to your .gitignore.
- darek 11y agoOn Windows I've been using Total Commander for 15 years or more. There's nothing like it on Mac, and I've tried them all. But there's this new app, Files (http://filesmanager.info/ http://filesmanager.info/), which is being actively developed and gaining features fast. I've been using it for some time now I'm liking it more and more. The developer behind it is very responsive and skilled and it seems to be going in a great direction. There's hope for OS X! :)

- iyn 11y agoI'm new to the OS X: what do you use instead then? Is there a good alternative to Finder?
- tim333 11y agoDunno if they replace Finder but I find http://www.mucommander.com/ http://www.mucommander.com/ and http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file handy. Both free.
- duaneb 11y agoThere's Path Finder, but the Finder is pretty central to OS X, so it's going to have its rough edges. However, Spotlight + unix + the dock does wonders for avoiding needing to browse at all.
