Removing non-helmet related deaths fails to take account for any changes in attitude from helmet wearing. Could it be that little hunk of plastic makes people feel safer and thus helps lead to a small increase in the number of accidents? It's entirly possible that's bullcrap but it's the kind of thing that's missed if you're only compare head related injuries.
