Interview with Chris Wanstrath
- obilgic 11y agoCurious about why the title "GitHub CEO: What I learned from our harassment scandal" has been changed to "Interview with Chris Wanstrath: ?
- dang 11y agoThat's a misleading and linkbait title, which the HN guidelines ask to avoid. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- obilgic 11y agoThats the title chosen by the article's author though. How do you conclude that it's misleading and linkbait?
- kajecounterhack 11y agoIt'd be linkbait / misleading because the interview is not about the one quote, that quote was selected to attract attention. Thus it seems more helpful to call this an interview without the editorialized quote.

- dang 11y agoYou're right that the title chosen by the author is preferable in general, but the HN guidelines make specific exceptions for misleading titles or linkbait ones. I conclude that it's misleading because the interview doesn't focus on the harassment suit (that's just one part of it, and the answer there is rather vague), and linkbait because that detail was clearly in the title because it's the sensational bit.
