As a student I loved word problems and hated the straight equation ones. It always pissed me off that there were 35 explicit 45 - 17 = ? questions and 4 word problems. I wonder what, if anything, that says about people. Should I start asking people which problems types they preferred during interviews? (that's mostly rhetorical...i think).
