If you see arrogant people opposing something, that doesn't mean it's worth defending. A field can have a deep sophisticated history, but still be full of bullshit. Example: any political or economic theory that you disagree with.
- beat 11y agoI'd argue that all fields that have deep and sophisticated histories are full of bullshit, including the hard sciences. Scientific method is a long-term defense, but not a short-term one, and art has advanced at least as successfully as science over the past century.
