I think there are other problems with using curl|bash than purely technical ones. Since it isn't obvious to everyone how to do it correctly you're unwittingly creating a culture of just running anything of the Internet. You're also making it harder for yourself do the right thing, both over time and when you're stressed. It's generally just a good practice to remove sources of errors, especially if they are low-hanging, to get a more robust process. Managing computers is hard enough as it is.
