Sorry, I'm confused by the "1996" in the post title. The article deals with the 1963 American expedition to Everest, and seems to have been published in 2013.

The article deals with the 1963 American expedition to Everest, and seems to have been published in 2013.
Am I missing something here?
Interesting read anyway. I didn't know much about the first American ascent.

I'd never heard of this attempt before and shows just how hard it is to get to the top. Editors/moderators take note: I research the story and titles, don't change them unless you have bothered to read and understand the context of the post.
