One of my favorite early DRMs was for Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom, I think) which came with Dr. Jones' Diary. Some of the puzzles required looking up old journal entries and figuring out what was written in order to put the statues in the right order (or whatever the puzzle was) was a lot of fun as a little kid. I got a copy later on and got a PDF of the diary just to play it again, it was a lot of fun.
