You know that, even on mechanical turk, you'd still have to pay people something to look at the x-ray images, whether they find a weapon or not? What you're describing would still cost a significant amount of money (even at, say, a penny per image?) and your screeners would have even less of an incentive to actually find any weapons than the current TSA does.
