In order to be able to communicate with a journalist without being traced by the government you already need something like TOR. (For example Snowden used TOR, https://theintercept.com/2014/10/28/smuggling-snowden-secrets/ https://theintercept.com/2014/10/28/smuggling-snowden-secret... )
- lisper 11y agoJust because Snowden used TOR doesn't mean TOR is necessary. And, BTW, it is worth noting that Snowden did not use TOR in order to remain anonymous. Anonymity can be useful building block, part of the solution. But it is not in and of itself the solution, and it is not without its costs.
- vilhelm_s 11y agoI feel the complete solution is pretty well understood though: use an anonymization technology like TOR to hide your real-world identity, then use cryptography like gpg to link your messages with your pseudonym. That's what Satoshi Nakamoto did too, isn't it?
- lisper 11y agoThat is certainly a solution. Not necessarily the solution.
