What is "a mushroom tied to a string"? I've never heard that colloquialism before, but it's hilarious. All I got with a google search was some stock photos.

  It's a euphemism for genitalia. My inner circle uses it to refer to something that has become a joke of itself.

        It's not obvious at all. At least not from the context alone. I'm not even sure how you cam up with that idiom, nor which sex's genitalia it's supposed to look like.
