I love how "being American" makes one somehow obsessed with free market and all that other hogwash that is apparently embedded in the hearts and minds of every American. I don't expect anyone to apologize for their place of birth, and I would ask that the same in kind.
- stephenr 11y agoNo one asked you to apologise. From an outside view, American society by and large seems to embrace unregulated 'free market' concepts and/or minimising the government's ability to have any kind of impact on society. The person I replied to claimed that Banks are the problem, and specifically mentioned the 2008 financial crisis, which was the result of banks doing things they never should have, because they are either not bound by laws about their behaviour, or they're not punished appropriately when they break said laws.
