I think you "probably" should go for it, however, my advice is to at least attempt to write a business plan, do some financial calculations, etc. Try to figure out at least some of the hidden costs (time OR money) that will bite you as you start your company. Also, one thing that saved my bacon was having an actual customer pay me money for what I was doing - and give me feedback as a result; some things I thought were valuable, were not valuable to the customer.
