I think you just described why I get stuck tinkering on the computer instead of going outside for a run :-(

  Yes! But we grow to like any skillset which we allow ourselves the time to get good in. Sometimes you have to look hard for forms of exercise that you didn't consider before, maybe something will eventually rock your boat as much as tinkering with technology, even in terms of intellectual challenges.
