The last time I read about the subject I understood that some researcher thought that communication not just involved whistles and clicks but also movements, postures and bubbles. I can't remember where I read that though. Like Linear-A or the Voynich script this seems to be a difficult thing to decode - if there even is a meaningful symbolic communication.
