- asdtgy 11y agoit's the free market ...
- patrickaljord 11y agoMore like the opposite of it.
- dylanjermiah 11y agoAre you being sarcastic? These are _interventions_ in the free market.
- AnimalMuppet 11y agoYou're standing on the edge of a cliff. Be careful not to fall into the Sar Chasm...
- asdtgy 11y agoI don't like that word either
- asdtgy 11y agofree market controlled by the government sponsored by big business...

- kuschku 11y agoWell, it’s simple: Currently, the drivers are liable to get insurance, get a license, etc. So, for example, if a uber driver has an accident, he has to pay himself for all the costs. This ruling also provides safety for the drivers, because the driver (which has to behave as if he was an employee) now also gets the protections valid for employees.
- patrickaljord 11y ago> So, for example, if a uber driver has an accident, he has to pay himself for all the costs. Can't the employee get an insurance by himself?
- chipsy 11y agoNobody wants to willingly insure some random Uber driver. Would you? Or would you start demanding references, background checks, the backing of a larger entity?
- kuschku 11y agoThe employee would need commercial insurance, which is a lot more expensive. At that point, the employee has the disadvantages of being an employee, and the disadvantages of being a contractor, but the advantages of neither.
- pbreit 11y agoUber provides insurance: https://www.uber.com/driver-jobs https://www.uber.com/driver-jobs There are quite some major differences from being regularly employed. For example, you can work whenever you want including never. Let me know what your boss says about that.
