Totally agree. Was going to add that an expanding schema is a liability but that seems self evident with the comments about code expansion. If you've ever built a very busy application you know the truth of this. At first the massive access to data you have seems like a gift and you'll log it all "just in case". You might even brag about the volumes of data you have and speculate about their value to investors and internally. But eventually you realize the risk and cost and cost of managing the risk.
