Theorically speaking, you could recreate youtube whitout the ads juste by running a crawler that would create an html page embedding each video it finds. Of course the API facilitate that - but if the website doesn't have some solid added value, then it's no use at all (you're better off installing Adblock). Besides, "inline" video advertisement has it's purpose.
