- yeldarb 11y agoThe disk image is available via their website but requires your VIN number. I poked around a past update and it appeared to just be a *nix disk image. Wasn't sure if it was signed or if there was much security or not so I wasn't brave enough to change anything for fear of borking my car. But I would have loved to figure out how to enable the nav system that's already built into my car but disabled (Jeep charges $XXXX for the privilege)
- BillinghamJ 11y agoIt's incredibly easy to get the VIN of a car. For example, most (UK) DVLA APIs include the VIN when you put a registration plate in.
- sokoloff 11y agoOr you could walk through a parking lot and look at the corner of the windshield...
- Retr0spectrum 11y agoI can't edit my original comment, but I eventually figured it out. here's a link: https://mega.nz/#!51V1zBIJ!u4Ewgv-yOJR-fsRTUKSVov4lzDqM9iuyjlZZ8FaKMTo https://mega.nz/#!51V1zBIJ!u4Ewgv-yOJR-fsRTUKSVov4lzDqM9iuyj...
- voltagex_ 11y agoDo you mind if I write a short article on this?
- Retr0spectrum 11y agoNo problem - Although all I did was to download and rehost a semi-publicly available file.
- voltagex_ 11y agoI'm wondering if it has your VIN in it though. Will report back.
- Retr0spectrum 11y agoI just got a random vin from the internet. I don't think the downloads are personalised. I'd be interested to know what you find!
- voltagex_ 11y agoI'm not sure I can add much over http://www.ioactive.com/pdfs/IOActive_Remote_Car_Hacking.pdf http://www.ioactive.com/pdfs/IOActive_Remote_Car_Hacking.pdf - I'm a bit jealous. I'd love to get paid to pull firmware apart like that.
