In modern times and in most companies I've visited in London, tea-break culture is a relic no longer formally observed. Perhaps every now and then, but it no longer seems a pervasive ritual. Whether that's good or bad is another matter. The U.S. (and other countries) enterprise culture shops often have informal, ad-hoc, after-lunch or mid-afternoon "coffee breaks" where run sustainably (neither burnout nor country club).
