Linds Redding's 'Short Lesson in Perspective'
- derptron 11y agoSeems to be the problem when you lie to yourself. Sooner or later cognitive dissonance will catch up. Whether it takes a terminal diagnosis to be the catalyst or not is up to us.

- anonmeow 11y agoEnjoy your capitalism where people working in advertising and meaningless app businesses get huge sums of money while phd postdocs researching molecular biology (which is necessary to at least have a chance of finding a cure for cancer) are getting by on their 60000$. You, dear reader, probably hope that you will make enough money off your trendy webapp business and will get the best medicine when the time comes, but you probably won't. This man's fate awaits you.
- pushnpop 11y agoI think you are making the same mistake as the author. You think that your work has deeper meaning when in reality any breakthrough you discover will be patented by your university and commercialized by pharmaceutical companies making the president of your university and the CEO of the pharma company even richer while you will still just be getting by on your $60000 stipend. Enjoy your late nights in the lab and your delivery pizza.
- bigtones 11y agoWow, this is a brutally honest read, and it resonates more because the author is now diseased and this was a reflection back on his life before he left us.
