I expect Europe will face some huge troubles in the future, perhaps even a civil war.
And these problems will be caused by mass immigration and multiculturalism. Many immigrants aren't interested into integrating with their host countries and in my country (The Netherlands) the immigrants also put a huge pressure on the welfare state, because of this the social cohesion is breaking down.
In my opinion any country should have a leading culture and immigrants should aspire to adopt the leading culture, since I believe sharing a culture strengthens the social cohesion.
The French secret service is already making preparations for what they call civil unrest: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/11826862/Airlines-told-to-expect-French-911-as-Hollande-warns-of-more-Islamist-violence.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/1182...
I will try to emigrate within the next 10 years or so.
- tinco 11y agoThe Netherlands will see no such civil war. French fucked up with their intrgration policies, they are arrogant and elitist. And it has set them on a collision course with their poor, as it has done before. The Netherlands has no such problems that I'm aware of. Our welfare is in jeopardy because of people not dying, not jobless immigrants.
- vegabook 11y ago> "people not dying" How inconvenient....
- dogma1138 11y agoWhile not like the "ghetto's" in Paris where the cop's don't even enter the housing projects in Amsterdam that can be classified as such are becoming more and more frequent. Same goes for many other European countries, visit Malmo in Sweden (I had the "pleasure" a year and a half ago) it felt less safe than Detroit and parts of Baltimore. Not a single European country has done immigration well as it seems, the UK of all places probably did it's best and even it has it's share of problems. While there won't be a civil war under any possible scenario it will reach a flash point that might paint many countries black if not red again. Some of the rallies should scare any sensible person and I could really care less about various excuses like it's a vocal minority or they are just angry because X Y Z, I still remember the hate rally after the Danish cartoons in London and my GF verbally (and would be physically) assaulted because she had an Icelandic flag on her backpack and 5th century zealots don't understand geography (not that if she had a danish one it would've been better). Europe as a whole needs to rethink it's immigration policy and if they really want to integrate the immigrants, they are very politically correct to the point of insanity on the inside and probably the most racist people in the world in their homes. My GF brother lives in Norway with his family I've visit there 2-3 times a year with my GF and i see how the people speak once they get a glass or 2 into them, how they curse the immigrants and how now their worst nightmare isn't their kid getting addicted on drugs but rather converting to Islam. Her brother's friend almost went on a fritz when his 16 yr old kid stopped shaving because he thought he was converting they even planned an intervention and if that wouldn't worked they were contemplating trying to see if they can get him "checked out" (aka put away into a mental hospital to cure him). And the dutch aren't that much better only a couple of weeks ago while doing a project for ING my contact there told me they had to stop shuttle bus from the train station to the industrial park because all the Arabs and gypsies used ride them all the time so now they reimburse people for taxis. And that's hardly the only racist comment I've heard from people and from what i sense at least they are becoming more "bolder" about making those comments, 2-3 years ago they would only say something like that after really getting to know you now it's pretty common.
- Zarkonnen 11y agoI too worry about troubles and political instability in Europe, but actually because of people with your political views. We're feeling the squeeze, economically, environmentally, but instead of fixing our societies to be fairer, we're taking the easy route of blaming "the foreigners".
- sentenza 11y agoThey closed down due to financial reasons[1], this has literally nothing to do with immigration or HN. [1] http://www.huffingtonpost.fr/2015/08/31/le-gorafi-fini-site-annonce-sa-fin_n_8063514.html http://www.huffingtonpost.fr/2015/08/31/le-gorafi-fini-site-...
- DanBC 11y ago> I will try to emigrate within the next 10 years or so. I hate immigrants, but it's different when I immigrate?
- thiht 11y agolegal vs illegal. Basically no one has problems with legal immigrants willing to adopt the local culture.
- peteretep 11y agoYou appear to have completely missed the entirety of the British immigration debate which is almost entirely about Polish plumbers, Bulgarian brick layers, and French financial consultants, far as I can tell.
- thiht 11y ago@peteretep : yeah, I don't really care about British immigration
- prawn 11y agoWhat about legal immigrants who don't adopt the local culture?
- logingone 11y agoWhat's hate got to do with it? The UK quite simply doesn't have the infrastructure capacity. As an atheist, I don't want christianity in the UK, fortunately declining, never mind increasing numbers of muslims. Cultures are variably compatible. Integration is not of interest to everyone - I know a number of Poles in London who after 20 years here can't string an english sentence together because they flat out refuse to speak it. Not everyone wants fairness, they want their rights, not all rights are compatible. The problem is not european societies, rather the societies from which the foreigners come. Not all migrants are refugees. Personally, I think this could have, and should have been resolved 15 years ago, and that this is going to blow up. Economic slow down will fan the flames.

- louhike 11y agoThis comment has nothing to do with this website. Maybe you linked it to Charlie Hebdo because the title says it is satirical. Le Gorafi is a french equivalent to The Onion.
- peteretep 11y agoThis calls for a Willy Wonka image macro with the caption "So tell me more about where you'll move to that doesn't have a self-identified immigration problem".
- calibraxis 11y agoMaybe your government shouldn't have invaded other countries, killing people and replacing their own governments. Did your soldiers "integrate" with their "host countries"? No, they killed people and replaced their governments.
- Twisell 11y agoThis point of view reflect only the doctrine of the most nationalist people in Europe. It is however true that we currently have to face a massive flow of refugees from Syrian war, that only add to the constant migration process that characterizes our European country since the 70's. But I hope that U.S. citizen have a good laugh when they see European nationalist propaganda on the web. Cause what are the U.S. if not a country born from mass immigration and multiculturalism...
