Fundamental Flaws of Qubit Concept for General-Purpose Quantum Computing [pdf]
- jcr 11y agoThe patent mentioned in the references of the paper is also interesting. Quantum Computing Circuits US 20130057314 A1 http://www.google.com/patents/US20130057314 http://www.google.com/patents/US20130057314
- michaelsbradley 11y agoYes, the patent is definitely interesting. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9950206 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9950206
- gaze 11y agoThe author doesn't seem familiar with quantum measurement. Yes of course the measurement apparatus disturbs the state... There's plenty of theory for this and how it works into computation.
- michaelsbradley 11y agoI would say he's more than familiar: https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=%22Wu%2C+Cheng+Hsiao%22&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C26 https://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=%22Wu%2C+Cheng+Hsiao%22... However, his concerns about "disturbing the state" do deserve further attention and elaboration.
- gaze 11y agoHuh? What there suggests he's familiar with the theory of quantum measurement?
- michaelsbradley 11y agoYou're right, whoops. I thought that was the search which included this paper near the top of the list, but I failed to double-check: Quantum network theory of computing with respect to entangled flux qubits and external perturbation http://scitation.aip.org/content/aip/journal/jap/113/15/10.1063/1.4801807 http://scitation.aip.org/content/aip/journal/jap/113/15/10.1...
