That said, the two hangups for me on windows are - 254 character path limit no posix compliance (lack of a shim library even) -- there used to be a posix compliant set of libs that were optional under NT That said, outside the scope of the rant, Windows has been really good at keeping backwards compatibility. (See issue w/ 254 char path limit).
