IMO the maker of this should charge $40+, which feels like the range that a good email client could easily be worth. We're all still suffering with terrible, bloated free email clients!
(Chuckled when I see one commenter was saying how expensive it is! I guess that's why I shy away from b2c sales).
- wlesieutre 11y agoI don't think Karunamon is complaining about how expensive it is. Just that you have no way of confirming whether it works with your email infrastructure beyond throwing $10 at it and crossing your fingers.
- Karunamon 11y agoPretty much this - the price is just a minor quibble. What it comes down to is what it's going to be compared against - the free apps we all know. Mail.app, Thunderbird, Evolution, sup, mutt, etc. Do the extra features justify the workflow changes and the license price? Dunno. Have no way of knowing in this case :(
- spott 11y ago>which feels like the range that a good email client could easily be worth. The problem is that I don't want to drop $40 sight unseen. I still haven't come across an email reader that doesn't suck, and $40, hell $10, is a lot of money to basically throw away if the program doesn't work out for what you need.
- jasonpbecker 11y agoYup. Not offering me a 15 day trial makes it super hard to know how it will work with my two email providers, not to mention the advertising video and site make it very hard for me to understand how using the app is like.
- weaksauce 11y agoif you haven't tried it... mailmate is pretty great at being an extremely powerful email client with fast searching and power user features. not as pretty as this one and doesn't have some of the extra workflow enhancements that this has(like hiding automated emails, etc...) but it's worth the money. edit: that's his site: http://freron.com/ http://freron.com/
- nunofgs 11y agoMailmate looks good but I have to confess I never gave it a shot due to it's design. Just looks so outdated.
- arm 11y agoI dunno… on Mavericks at least, I have to say it looks pretty good. The text-only buttons give it a nice minimalistic look. I have no idea how it looks on Yosemite though.
- weaksauce 11y agoYeah, if you are really into aesthetics, and they are a dealbreaker, it's probably not for you. not sure how much nicer it can look though as it's a standard email client really. Try out the demo and see if it is for you.
- lemming 11y agoThe problem I had with MailMate was the lack of a threaded message view - that's now a total non-starter for me.
- arm 11y agoLeaving 'View → Organize by Thread ⇧⌘T' checked and switching to 'View → Layout → Thread Arcs ⌘3' isn’t what you’re looking for? Shown here: http://www.macdrifter.com/2013/11/mailmate-explorations.html http://www.macdrifter.com/2013/11/mailmate-explorations.html
