Let's not forget that there is a reason your 1st amendment right is directly followed by the 2nd amendment.

The idea that everyone carrying an assault rifile would stop this kind of thing is one of the most ridiculous tropes the far right has to offer. It assumes rationality on the part of the initial shooter, who is very often NOT rational. Its also very much a blame-the-victim response.
