- jacquesm 17y agoYou're not likely to get any hard answers over and beyond what articles like this give you, if someone is successful in selling their application through the app store they're going to keep it quiet for fear of engendering a large amount of competition, if they're failing then they will want to keep it quiet to avoid soiling their reputation.
- nopassrecover 17y agoYou may as well treat this as a single application, albeit spread out over multiple versions and content releases (a la The Sims).
- dasil003 17y agoCompletely true, but it's also worth noting that Tapulous' current market position is a result of some elegant pivots. Tap Tap Revolution was just one of many many apps they were working on in the early days. Once it started taking off they were smart enough to recognize an opportunity and convert that to a very solid business. Therefore it's a bit misleading to consider it a one-app success story, because there was so much more done behind the scenes.
- qeorge 17y agoRight, but it is significant in a discussion of what one app has the potential to make in Apple's App Store.
- gyardley 17y agoWe did some estimating at Pinch Media a few months back, based on our analytics data, and figured the mean (not median) revenue for a paid app was about $8K over the course of its entire lifetime. I won't claim this is anything but a rough guess. Due to the top-heavy nature of application downloads the median is certainly much lower.
