Beers have changed through the decades. Faro beers and similar old style session beers would usually be in the 2 to 3 percent range. People drank them while that worked. It was not intended to get you drunk but energized. Today's sessions are 4 percent and as high as 5 percent, which is significantly more and quite frankly silly to be called a session beer, since most pilsners and light beers are in the same range naturally.
