Interesting articles, though I'm not sure the critique applies here. It seems rather, ST2 ships with a separate and incomplete python environment. I don't think it 'embeds' python, does it?
- jdc 11y agoPretty sure the definition of embedding (that at least the article uses) is to call Python from rather than having Python call the other language.
- m_mueller 11y agoYes, that's what I also got from it. But still, does ST do that?
- wbond 11y agoYes, Sublime Text embeds Python. The Python interpreter is initialized by the Sublime Text binary. The issues that Floobits ran into were some of the edge-cases related to distributing a compiled version of Python to various operating systems. I wrote a top-level comment on this page about how Package Control patches these issues.
- m_mueller 11y agoPackage control is usually one of the first three things I show to people new to Sublime. It's the best damn plugin system I've ever seen. Thank you for your work, Sir!
- tripzilch 11y agoCurious, what are the other two things? :-) I pretty much don't consider any installation of Sublime on a new machine as "complete" until it also has Package Control.
- m_mueller 11y agoOne is almost always multi-cursors (together with regex search). The other depends on the person. Usually one of [CMD-O + select directory, CMD-R, CMD-T]
