The more techies will understand this the better :) Any adequate response to continuing big-brotherification of the internet must be threefold: * technological (strong crypto everywhere, decentralization of data collection and retention) * UX (technology must be usable for a common person without security and CS background) * political (strict laws protecting privacy and related human rights AND general consensus that these rights are important) We technologists naturally tend to focus on the first point but getting it right is not nearly enough.
