Have you considered the costs of the hardware that compensates for the software's slowness?
- nitrogen 11y agoAll that hardware is cheaper than a developer who can optimize the software without adding vulnerabilities. Plus Ruby/Rails apps rely very heavily on caching.
- rootlocus 11y agoConsidering the CPU architecture, everything relies heavily on caching. Not to mention it's the first thing any developer thinks about when performance is concerned. I'd be surprised to see any large application that doesn't rely heavily on some kind of caching.
- txdv 11y agoUnless you go facebook. Then a performance improvement of 0.5% can be worth 100k a year.
