Can this battery be used to jump another (traditional or Ohm) battery when required?
- mankyd 11y agoUsually, when jumping another car, you are supposed to leave the car running, getting power off the alternator rather than the battery.
- X-Istence 11y agoYou don't get the massive amount of power required for the starter from the alternator. You leave your car on so that in case the other car is severely broken or zaps all the remaining juice in your car's battery you don't end up stranded.
- prutschman 11y agoYou don't need to; I used to have a really crummy set of jumper cables that wouldn't actually pass enough power to start my car with the battery dead. I'd have to stay connected to the other car long enough to let its alternator charge my battery enough to start.
- conjecTech 11y agoHey! One of the founders here, Like another poster said, you should have your car running when jumping another car, but yes, Ohm can be used to jump another car (and vice versa).
- bagels 11y agoHow long will the battery keep charged on the shelf, or in an occasional use car?
- conjecTech 11y agoOn a shelf: upwards of 6 months. In a car: around a month if it's powering all the electronics. We also intend to have a switch that can electrically disconnect the battery. It would stop powering everything, but it would also allow you to store it in the car for the same 6+ months, switch it back on, and still start the engine.
- bagels 11y agoOh, please do! Some of my cars will sit for a month and then the battery is dead due to parasitic drain. It's a pain to plan ahead and use tools to disconnect the posts.
