From my experience, Object Tweens "never doing exactly what you wanted" is an understatement - they're pretty much useless for any non-trivial shape, not doing anything remotely sensible. There seems to be a lot of room for improvement in 2D interpolation, and their video shows stuff that looks impressive enough. I'd have to try it to form an opinion, of course... I hope I will find the time
