I don't personally care about Python packaging (and virtualenv) anymore when I can use any relevant Python package with Nix, or easily make a Nix package myself. I just hope the wheels don't make it harder to package stuff with Nix. With eggs I think there's something like an --old-and-unmanagable flag that makes it still output a directory structure. For deploying software to end-users (rather than developers), bundling all required Python code with appropriate wrapping to adjust PYTHONPATH works just fine.
