Democracy has been gamed since its invention. Unfortunately, the poor were extremely valuable as a servant class for the rich throughout our pre-industrial history. Nowadays however, with automation, the rich are becoming quite independent of serfs as capital increasingly substitutes for labor at a rapid pace. This does not bode well for the majority of the world's population of non-wealthy laborers.
